The rail systems are really easy to use. Look online and you can find the info you need on cost and schedules. They have specials on weekends. Once you get downtown using your feet works great if you have good shoes and aren't completely out of shape. Taxis are everywhere to flag down but are pricier. During the summer there is a bus that goes around parts of the downtown area that is free. That's what I know.

Depends on where you are. on the North side and in the loop, very very safe. once you go west and south (where i live) , if your not familiar with the area it can be dangerous esp. at night
