I went to Bintan resorts for my 21st birthday. I had a private yoga session and 4 and a half hours of massages. The staff were incredible welcoming and accommodating. 5 stars!

I was born in Jakarta and lived there through high school. Jakarta is all noise, pollution and traffic.
The rest of Java, is decent ; food and cheap shopping are the only interesting things.
Bali is a global village - here is an island that cater to international and local travellers.
Lombok is a less developed version of Bali, but still in long years until fully developed.

Great place to spend the winters when not in Canada. We live in Karma Kandara Resort in Ungasan on the island of Bali. Great quiet 5 star resort on southern most tip of Bali called the Bukit.

The only part of Indonesia which I have travelled was to Bali back in May 2008. I absolutely loved it. we will be going back there sooner or later. My 1st trip to Bali was back 1981 when I was 13 but I hated it at the time. I was so young then. It stunk, dirty and I get very sick not through food poisoning. I do think it was the Typhoid and Cholera vaccinations back in those days. My highlight of my trip back May 2008 was nursing a gorgeous baby Orangutan named Effie at the Safari Park. I absolutely loved Bali!!!!

What was to have been a six to eight week adventure in Indonesia was, rather unfortunately, cancelled due to a Dengue Fever carrying mosquito. Alas, I spent a mere two days in the Indonesian Capital of Jakarta. As I was on my way back to North America after being given to go ahead to fly, after being in Critical care at a Bangkok Hospital, I was not even up to adventuring. For the first time since leaving Canada nearly three years prior, I indulged in spa treatments and massage coupled with R n R. I very much hope to return to Indonesia one day, and carry out the plans I so meticulously made before leaving Japan to travel South East Asia.

Spend 2 weeks in bali, first 4 days i didnt really enjoy. People promised me paradise, but when i came there i was to shook up by the poverty! After that we left the southern part of the island and went to the north and east. It was pretty amazing there!
