the place is fabulous and some beaches lovely. i like it for a day only from st martin as its become a pap-magnet. get to gustavia for when the shops open. shop then head to the beaches. best to find one by a good hotel so you can have lunch there and use their facilities. freshen up and head back to st martin by plane or boat. if staying overnight, plan a nice dinner.
