Hi Everyone! I am trying to get from New Delhi, India to Tibet and finding it almost impossible without so much travel time lost. I keep getting directed from New Delhi to Guanzhou, China to Chengdu and then Lhasa. How can I get from India into China in the least possible hours?

You realize that travel to Tibet is restricted, don't you? So your choices are limited. The fastest way to Tibet would be by flying. There are flights to Lhasa from Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Kunming, Qamdo, Shanghai, Xi'an, Xining, and Zhongdian. So how fast you can get there would depend on what is the best flight connection from New Delhi. Best to ask a travel agent about that because the closest gateway will not necessarily get you there the fastest. It depends on the frequency of the flights.

I think you should go to kathmandu in nepal instead ( with North american and EU passports you get a visa on arrival but need a passport size pic and a small fee). They have a lot of travel agencies who organizes trips for tibet, hope it helps
Here is an overview of what's required to go to Tibet: http://blog.chinatravel.net/china-travel-tips-advice/how-to-get-tibet-travel-permits.html.
I agree with Russo. If you can't take a direct flight to Kathmandu from Dehli you can take a train (or a flight) to Varanasi. There, there are daily flights to Kathmandu.
