Wanting to visit Napa Valley and Sonoma this year. Any good places not to miss, including places to stay, vineyards (big or small), things to see while we are nearby.

  Paso Robles is pretty far from Sonoma/ Napa County.
  
  I highly recommend a visit to the French Laundry. It is one of the most highly esteemed Restaurant in the US.

  Go and do a Robert Mondavi vineyard tour. You will learn everything about viticulture and get a good look at what goes on at a vineyard. The wine train is another favorite, but very touristy. Excellent local restaurants in the area. Some have wine and cheese/food tastings. Wine tasting, of course! Other areas of interest around include Calistoga and a trip to San Fransisco.
