Darwin and it's outback area.. US Air Force mission, where we had a day to explore. Drove a few hours South of Darwin. Stopped by a river area where I saw some people swimming. Asked how was the water. They said great, but you have to get out later before the crocs return. No thanks. I did get to see giant termite mounds, wallabys, kangaroo and crocodiles (only on a croc farm).
Darwin
Darwin, Alice Springs, Uluru. I'd wanted to see Alice Springs ever since I saw the movie A Town Like Alice. It was about like I expected. We got to see the Todd River with water in it! (a rare sight). I wasn't as impressed with the sunset at Ulura as I'd expected, but the rock itself was impressive. Darwin is a bit off the beaten path, but is a nice little place and deserves a visit.
Darwin
Darwin, Port Douglas and Kakadu. Port Douglas was my favorite place. Beautiful beaches. Huge asian influence. Uluru was amazing, quite a culture shock!

Darwin
Darwin. Stayed a week in Darwin and had helicopter underwater emergency training before flying out to a rig.
I enjoyed Darwin but they tried to drown me at the HUET school I attended. I don't swim and they did things to me in their 30' deep pool, bad things.

Darwin
Darwin. 2003, two port calls while deployed with the Marines. One of the best places I've ever visited. Folks were incredibly friendly! Best story: When I caught a 13-foot salt water croc while I was sport fishing. After a 45-minute fight, and the guide fearing I would actually land it, the cros snapped the line. My Marines thought I was a hero. My arms hurts for a few days!
