The Turks and Caicos Islands are two groups of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, southeast of the Bahamas.
Even though you only boarded the plane in Miami, Florida a scant hour before, the moment you step off the plane, you know you are in a different world. The tropical breeze hits you as you step onto the tarmac, and you start looking forward to the incredible scuba diving that awaits. Although definitely not one of the prettiest of the islands, it has its own charms that come from being a mostly undiscovered tourist destination.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are arid compared with many other islands in the Caribbean. In the winter the weather is generally in the 70 - 80°F range. The temperatures easily climb into the 90°F during the summer. The island gets less than 50 inches of rainfall a year. Most rainfall occurs during the hurricane months of summer. Sunshine and breezy cooling winds are the norm in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Turks and Caicos Weather

I was totin' my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road,
When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered load.
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride."
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside.
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand.
And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land!"
[Chorus:]
I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the desert's bare, man.
I've breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been everywhere.
I've been to:
Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota,
Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota,

Turks and Caicos Islands
Grand Turk is a little shocking at first just because it's a small island with a large industrial section smack right beside the touristic area.. but once you get off the boat and step onto the island you'd no no better.. and the place is amazing..the sand is like walking on flour.. n the ocean is so Crystal clear.

SO GORGEOUS!!!! I want to move here. The locals are incredible to tourists, super super friendly and informative and just really nice. I learned a lot about the marine life around their island and it was just so insanely beautiful I loved it!
Turks and Caicos Islands
I have been to Grand Turk Island! I loved the beach, went to Margaritaville for majority of time there and hung out at Swim up Bar. Heard town was just like any other and its located just south of bahamas so weather is incredible!!
Turks and Caicos Islands
Flew in to the Turks and Caicos islands to refuel the cargo plane that was escorting our mission team home (on account of being evacuated from Haiti.) Beautiful islands!!!

I went to Grand Turk, it was like a flashback to 1960, the beach is lined with blue and white lawn chairs and.. those extended tanning lawn chairs whose name escapes me. The beaches are beautiful and civilization is sparse, i.e. very island like. If you enjoy eating conch, this is the place to go, they outnumber humans about 100 to 1. We went snorkeling, the sea bank suddenly drops off to a huge underwater cliff which was both scary and intriguing.
Turks and Caicos Islands
On the cruise we stopped in Grand Turk. We went to the most wonderful beach and ate good food. The cab driver gave us the "Grand" tour and told us that they had to revert to British rule because of some "independent" government problems. We did not stay long enough but I enjoyed every minute of my visit.
Turks and Caicos Islands
I went to Club Med on Turks & Caicos; it was not only beautiful - best snorkeling I've ever done- saw colors under the water so vibrant I've never seen before; snorkeling with the sharks, turtles, etc.
